Understanding Google's Products

Analytics, Tag Manager, Search Console, My Business

Google Analytics

Accessed through your Google email account

The Analytics home page is a summary of your site’s vital signs. You can quickly see how many people have visited your site within a given date range, or you can dig into details about whether visitors came from Facebook or by a Google search.  Whether you plan to rarely look at Analytics or you want as much detail as possible, this Google Course is the best way to pick and choose which features you want to learn about.  You can skip the set up portion as that is taken care of already.

Search Console

Accessed through your Google email account

Search Console helps you monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot your site's presence in Google Search results.  Most users rarely need to login to Search Console as they are notified by email if there is a problem. Click here for the most recent guide on using Search Console.

Tag Manager

Accessed through your Google email account

Google Tag manager is used to set up Analytics and other measurables on your website.  Unless you are comfortable with coding, you should not change these settings. More information on Tag Manager here.

Google My Business

Accessed through your Google email account

This is where you can manage your online presence across Google Search and Maps. You can make posts and add photos as often as you like, but be sure to update Google My Business if anything changes, such as website, phone number, or address.  This is the most recent guide to the features on Google My Business.

This information is current as of March 2022, but Google can change things at any time, which is why we have provided links directly to the source.
